Democrat Scott Vecchi announces candidacy for Plymouth County Commissioner

PLYMOUTH - After a lifetime of public service, Plymouth resident Attorney Scott M. Vecchi, Esq. proudly announced his candidacy today for Plymouth County Commissioner.

Vecchi, a Democrat currently serving as Vice Chair on the Plymouth Redevelopment Authority, said his candidacy is really an extension of his lifetime commitment to service. The Iraq war veteran noted his time in the U.S. Marine Corps, Plymouth Police Dept., and serving the Town of Plymouth on various boards and commissions for the last fifteen years as proof of that claim.

“Given my resume, I believe I’ll bring the necessary experience to the County Commission to support our First Responders, improve county services, and foster a strong local economy,” said Vecchi. “Moreover, my commitment to service and the community has afforded me the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life from all over the world. It’s taught me to listen, understand, and work toward solutions with empathy and compassion – and a bit of straightforwardness sometimes lacking in our government officials. You’ll know where I stand.”

News of Vecchi’s candidacy drew praise from many across the county. This includes a “day one” endorsement from Brockton At-Large City Councilor Jean Bradley Derenoncourt and former Plymouth Democratic Town Committee Chair, and current Democratic State Committeeman William Keohan.

“I have known Scott for many years; he is a dedicated and loyal public servant, and I wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy,” said Derenoncourt.

“I was excited to hear Scott was running. He has consistently stood up for democratic values, supporting working families, protecting our environment, and controlling taxes by building a local, sustainable economy. The 27 communities in Plymouth County have challenges, and Scott has demonstrated the strong work ethic and values to build a stronger Plymouth County for the 21st century.” Said Keohan.

While Vecchi plans several “kick-off” events in the future, he stated that a complete review of his platform, including his stances on county economics, his desire for NetZero green energy policies, and education, can be found on his website at www.vote4vecchi.org.
